Harley-Davidson shows updated glimpse of e-bikes

MILWAUKEE (BRAIN) — Harley-Davidson’s long-awaited foray into the e-bike market is closer to reality with a new photo of three prototype models on its website but no spec’s.

Under the “Future Vehicles” tab, the “Planned for 2021 E-bicycles Future Concepts” links to the photo, featuring rigid designs with mid-motors and belt-drives, one with a step-through frame. The photo was originally shown last week at the annual dealer meeting in Milwaukee.

About a year ago, Harley-Davidson announced it would launch several new products, including a no-clutch electric two-wheeler, which is also teased with a short video. The company just released its first electric motorcycle, LiveWire ($29,799), which will be available this fall.

Also last year, Harley acquired StaCyc Inc., a producer of electric balance bikes for kids, and began selling two models this year, a 12-inch ($649) and 16-inch ($699).
